Among the Echoes

Genre: New Adult, Contemporary, Romance, Suspense

Synopsis: *Among The Echoes is a stand alone novel which contains material that may be offensive to some readers. Including sexual abuse, graphic language, and adult situations. Intended for readers 18+.*

My name was Dr. Erica Hill. I was a victim, then a witness, and then I ceased to exist altogether.

I may still be breathing, but stripped of my identity, I have long since stopped living. I am invisible, and my life depends on my ability to stay in the shadows.

But he sees me.

Slate Andrews is the embodiment of everything I have been taught to avoid. He’s rich and famous, and one image of him with a woman would earn millions for any paparazzi lucky enough to snap it. He has vowed to protect me with his life, yet he exposes me with his every breath. I should be stronger and walk away. I should disappear. But I’m terrified he would come after me.

I’m on the run, determined not to take him down with me but absolutely unable to let him go.

My name is Riley Peterson…at least for today.

**I received an advance copy of this book,
but that did not influence the review**

4.5 stars rounded up to 5 Wow. This was outstanding, amazing, a rush, and totally epic. I love how Aly Martinez writes, the way she tells a story, and how she brings the characters to life. I will start with a range of feels as I read, then I will talk more about the book in detail.

Just so you know, I went into this book totally blind, as in I never even read the synopsis…yep, because I know Aly is THAT good Image may be NSFW.

Range of Feels

I love the cover.  Love the whole vibe it gives off and I cannot wait to start this.
oh man oh man oh man. *frowns and talks to self* I should have read the synopsis warning. Read the warning my friends, just in case you are sensitive.
Phew, that part is done and we’ve moved on in time. I’m not sure how I feel about it, but I’m ready to switch gears.
What the heck? I don’t know who is who already, but that Aly is a genius. (later on I was like a-ha!)
The chemistry works. Holy cow does it work from the very first moment.
Dave, I love you, babe.
Oh Slate, I really love you. You perfectly fit and confident specimen of smexy man that I’d like to nibble on.
Oh no, don’t do this. It can work, it has to! I’m begging you.
Please let there be a chapter about Leo going out having wild random sex. With loads of details. Please and TY.
Yes, you tell her, Dave. Live your life, Riley!
Thank God she listened.  And holy moly shirts are definitely discouraged.
Sweet lawd, I can’t keep up with names and teams because I’m reading so fast, but I know there is double crossing everywhere. I’ll just go with that because going back and rereading is too much work.
I can’t read fast enough. Nail biter!
Holy crap, this ending is going to give me a heart attack.
*heart attack!!!*
Dawwww, perfect ending was perfect.
THE LAST LINE. OMG. EPIC.
I love this book so much, and I love Aly so much she might be glad she lives in a different part of the country because otherwise I’d be at her house hugging her and wanting to hang out every day and talk book boyfriends.

So there you go my friends…yes the beginning was tough, so be warned. And that is the only reason this book isn’t getting a solid 5 stars. The rest of the book was about 100 stars (yes, it is THAT good), but the beginning was really graphic, and I’m not sure I needed to read those details. I get that “it” set the scene, but it was definitely not easy for me to read. That really truly is the only critique I have for this book, so now that I got that over with, let’s talk about how much I loved the rest of it!

Slate is bossy, sexy as hell, brooding, rich, and a really good man. You will all love him and swoon over him and want him in all of the ways. YUM.

Erica is amazing, but I didn’t connect with her for a long time. However, I think that was how it was supposed to be. She was so closed off, and it wasn’t until she met Slate that she opened up and became the woman she was meant to be. It was almost as if I felt more like I was in Slate’s head, and I watched her transform through his eyes. It was liberating and wonderful. She became a confident and sassy person, with a fantastic sense of humor.

Leo is spectacular. His banter and relationship with Riley is amazing. That is all you need to know about him. Even though he wasn’t her love interest I couldn’t get enough.

The romance is very hot. Delicate at times, for sure, but slow burning and hot. There was some dirty talk, and I’m pretty sure we didn’t even get to hear all the good stuff. But it also was real and deep. A hard thing to get across when the two main characters haven’t known each other for very long, but it was done so well. I was on board with all of it.

There were double crossings everywhere. However, it really made me see how they felt trapped and desperate they all were. The bad guys are very scary. And when I say scary I mean really f*cking scary. Be prepared to get your fright on!

Now for the ending. I loved how all the loose ends were wrapped up, but quite to be honest that last line is what made the book give me chills. It was outstanding!

Rec it? YES. A million times yes!
